Editor’s Letter
Hello, and welcome to the first issue of APBN in 2019! Another year is upon us and we’ve got exciting story ideas for the next 12 months. We’re saying goodbye to our conference calendar section (for a while now), but we’ve got great content ahead of us!
Starting with the first 2019 issue on Taiwan’s medical tourism. Known for being a popular tourist destination, Taiwan now wants people to consider seeking medical services there. APBN was fortunate to be invited to Taiwan last year to witness the Healthcare Expo 2018 as well as touring several high-tech hospitals in the country.
With all the news on medical cannabis recently and Thailand becoming the first Southeast Asian country to legalize medicinal marijuana on Christmas Day, we’ve got a special cannabis feature for you in February.
In April, find out career developments for researchers in the biotech field as they move from academia to industry. Ostriches have strong immune systems making them highly resistant to viral infections, read about the research on ostrich antibodies in May. Have you ever wondered what goes behind a clinical trial naming process? With names like SNAP which stands for Severity Index of Neonatal Septicemia Using Score for Neonatal Acute Physiology or PROSCARDIO for the study on PROState Cancer Patients Initiating Hormone Therapy: Effect of Exercise on CARDIOvascular Health, all these upcoming in the June issue.
I hope you will enjoy our new content this year, and if you have any comments for the magazine, or compliments for a specific staff member, we’d love to hear them. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the hardworking team behind APBN, the editorial and advisory board, and you for all your support thus far.
Cheers to an amazing year ahead!
