Molecular Diagnostics Developer Supplies COVID-19 Test Kits to Malaysia

INEX Innovate, a molecular diagnostics group will be supplying real-time RT-PCR test kits to Malaysia to meet critical demand.

INEX and the University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) entered into an agreement to provide COVID-19 test kits to meet the increasing demand and provide accurate and efficient diagnosis of the novel coronavirus.

The test kits, based on real-time Reverse Transcriptase-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) technology, have up to 99 percent accuracy and results can be obtained within approximately 90 to 120 minutes.

Testing has formed the front line, as Malaysia has been ramping up its daily testing capacity to 16,500 a day since the first week of April. They have now achieved 11,050 per day compared to 3,000 per day at the end of March. INEX’s supply of real-time RT-PCR test kits will help meet the critical

To that end, we started this strategic initiative with our partners at Genting Berhad and Prof Dr Tan Maw Pin of UMMC, working round the clock to make available our real-time RT-PCR test kits to healthcare professionals to bolster and further add to the government of Malaysia’s efforts. As of April 2020, INEX has already supplied in excess of 20,000 COVID-19 tests to UMMC, inclusive of an additional 1,500 test kits that were donated out of goodwill to meet the urgent demand. As part of the agreement, INEX will continue to support UMMC through this difficult period.

The company collaborates with global centres of medical excellence in Singapore, Hong Kong and Mainland China to deliver cutting edge COVID-19 Real Time PCR tests to the medical community. To date INEX Innovate has entered into agreements to deliver much needed test kits to Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, India, Ukraine, Spain, France and Canada. [APBN]
